Heard it on the Grapevine

BALDWIN FAMILY HAS FAB TIME ON CRUISE. Yes, Sarah Lee and Gordy Baldwin, along with their daughter Cathy and her husband Doug Crocker and their one-year-old daughter Keelyn, and Lindsay and Kevin Brink enjoyed a 12-day cruise aboard the Explorer of the Seas on the Royal Caribbean Line which sailed out of fort Liberty in New Jersey. They stopped at St. Thomas, Dominica, St. Martins and Barbados along the way and they enjoyed the delicious food. Although they sailed out of New Jersey, the seas were calm. They arrived home on Friday and were spotted that night at their favorite seat at The Parkwood.

CAMPAIGN IN FULL SWING. Members of the Better Babylon Party came out on Thursday night to support their candidates for re-election as trustees in the upcoming election. Alice Vanderveldt and Kevin Muldowny said they were thrilled with the "overwhelming support they received. Some of those seen at Lily Flanagan's were Terry Santmann, John and Meg Auer, and of course Mayor Ralph Scordino and Trustees Tony Davida and Debbie Basile, Jack Corcoran, Louise and Marty Kiennedy and Connie and Peter Lo Cascio. And now for the lucky winners of the beautiful prizes: the huge basket filled with home-made chocolates donates by Tracy Davida, daughter of Trustee Tony Davida was won by Nile Crowe, and the wine rack overflowing with 36 bottles of wine was won by John Sullivan.

This photo didn't make into last week's column, but it is so cute, we had to get it into print this week. Shown is 1 and one-half year old Alexa Rose Ninomaya, daughter of Carolyn an Lancy Ninomaya of Lindenhurst, cuddling up to Santa. TALKED TO DARRELL CONWAY who's running at large on the Unity line for Village trustee. Darrell said he expects to visit every house in the Village and last night a fund raiser was held at the Hibernian Hall featuring refreshments and music. He has been active in the Village for 22 years and has participated in a number of activities including Little League and has been both president and vice president of the Babylon School Board. His children graduated from Babylon High School and are now attending college. "Elections are good for the Village," he said. "They give people a chance to examine the records of their leaders and those who want to lead."

GOOD NEWS. He was everyone's favorite host when he owned La Grange. Now Uwe Paulsen has retired and is very much missed. He recently had knee surgery and after therapy is at home recuperating. His friends at the "Sewer Society" are hoping that he'll be back at his seat at the Delphi Diner real soon.

AND SPEAKING OF THE SEWER SOCIETY. Ed Weinstein picked up the tab last week in celebration of his birthday - a time-honored custom of the group.

VISITORS FROM FLORIDA. Tina and Jim Grange flew up to Babylon from their St. Petersburg, Florida winter home to enjoy a visit with their grandson Steven J. Warren who was home on leave from his Army post in Colorado where he will remain for a month before shipping out for either Iraq or Afghanistan. Steven is the son of Nancy and Steven Warren and the grandson of Jane and Millard Warren, all of Babylon Village.

JUST A REMINDER, Looking forward to seeing you Sunday at Fran and Bob Pash's home for the popular annual fund raiser cocktail party hosted by the Babylon Business and Professional Women's Association for the benefit of their scholarship fund. Call Lois Baisley at 587-0589 for information.
