Historic inauguration adds to the amazing American process of transferance of power
There is something magical about the way in which power is transferred at the highest levels in this country. Whether Barak Obama is the candidate you voted for or not, there is reason to rejoice this week. Without violence, guns or a standing army, one man steps down, and another takes his place, empowered only by the majority will of the people. Each inauguration is a dramatic reminder of this amazing process, steeped in the vision of our Founding Fathers and nurtured and protected by each passing generation.
This particular inauguration of the first African American to serve in the White House is even more historic. It reminds us, and the world, that this is a country of Americans, not one of races or cultures or political parties; not separated by ideologies, but instead strong and wise enough to make discussion, debate and opposition an integral part of our governing process. We do all have reason to rejoice, and we ask the blessings of God on our new President as he begins the work of protecting and defending the Republic from sea to shining sea.
