The students in Babylon Junior-Senior High School's Roots & Shoots environment and socially concerned club teamed up with Leg. Wayne Horsley this fall to conduct a drive for those in need of warm clothing during the winter months.
During National Hunger and Homeless Awareness Week, the students rallied their peers together and collected 85 coats, four pairs of winter pants, and 21 sets of hats and gloves. The items collected were given to the Legislator's office and will be donated to Every Child's Dream, Inc., which will provide approximately 500 families in Suffolk County with warm clothing. Members of Babylon Junior-Senior High School's Roots & Shoots club are shown with their advisor, Mary Beth Malone.
The West Babylon School District is ringing in a sweet new year as the West Babylon Junior High School Home and Careers Department held their annual "cookie party" for parents, students and faculty members. The Home and Careers Department teaches unique sets of skills that are meant to stay with students as they become more independent, making healthy decisions for themselves and their families. The cookie party is always a deliciously fun event here at the junior high.
