Angie Carpenter, Suffolk County Treasurer, was recently honored as "Woman of the Year" by West Islip American Legion Post No. 1738. Carpenter was recognized at the Post's annual dinner and dance, which helped raise needed funds as the Legion continues to improve the building and make it more handicapped accessible.

Carpenter has been a long time supporter of the American Legion and its efforts within the community. The American Legion promotes many events in the community including the Festival of Lights, Memorial Day Parade, sending a boy and girl to Boys State and Girls State and of course, supporting our local veterans.

"The dedication and commitment to our community of the members of Post 1738 is unparalled and something of which we all cherish," said Carpenter.
