West Babylon Junior High students vote their minds

2009-01-08 / Schools/Sports

Students at West Babylon Junior High School in the West Babylon School District participated in a mock election on Nov. 3. The classrooms were turned into voting booths and, just like in the real election, every student had to register in order to be eligible to vote. And register they did! During their lunch periods, each student filled out a form in the school's cafeteria so that their "presidential vote" would count. There were even students that acted as members of the Electoral College. Throughout the day the kids got to experience the real-life tension of waiting for the outcome of a presidential election.

Shown in the photo, West Babylon students man the voting stations as their classmates turn out to vote.
