Dix Hill fireman Fred Kuhne honored

Suffolk County Legislator Steve Stern (D-Huntington) 16th LD, recently honored Fred Kuhne at the Dix Hills Fire Department's 60th annual Installation Dinner as one of the founders and as a charter member of the Dix Hills Fire Department. Kuhne has dedicated over 60 years of service and was named honorary chief of the Dix Hills Fire Department. Kuhne was one of the visionaries who saw the need for a fire company in the Dix Hills area, which at the time was largely rural and sparsely populated. Kuhne assisted in the construction of the original firehouse "Station 1" for the residents of Dix Hills.

"It is my privilege to recognize Fred Kuhne on his outstanding achievements. As a Dix Hills resident, I am proud of his hard work, dedication to service and commitment to the community," Legislator Stern said.
