West Islip students join forces to raise money for kids with life-threatening illness

Bayview and Captree Elemen­tary Schools in West Islip joined forces to raise money for the Marty Lyons Foundation, which grants wishes to children with life-threatening or terminal ill­nesses. Several fundraisers were held this year for the foundation, including a walk-a-thon on June 17, which raised $2,000. Pictured are some of the chil­dren who participated. Teach­ers Denise Campasano and Ma­ria Lucie report that in total, $5,861 has been donated to the foundation this school year.
