Take part in the Pride Ride

A special event to help returning veterans who have sustained serious injuries, including ampu­tations, in Iraq and Afghanistan will be taking place locally. Groups and organizations looking to show their support for these brave men and wom­en,

and for all who are serving our country, have the opportunity to do that Fri., July 25. Our hope is that they begin to make plans to participate in the Wounded Warrior project now, and give these soldiers the warmest, most enthusiastic reception they can ever receive.

The Wounded Warrior Ride project is a nation­wide program designed to help veterans recover physically and mentally from their injuries. It is also designed to instill pride, and to let them know that there are millions of Americans who appreci­ate their sacrafices. The Ride will go through local streets and highways from Babylon Town through the Mas­sapequas

beginning at 10 a.m., following a small ceremony that begins at 9 a.m. Our front-page story this week outlines the route, and the public is being asked to station themselves, their scout troops, veterans organizations, youth and athletic groups, along the Ride's route to cheer the veter­ans

on as they head toward Wantagh Parkway and down to the beach. We will have more informa­tion on times in next week's edition. Let's make this Ride the best in the country and let's get out July 25 and take our pride, and our gratitude, to the streets.
