Conservative Party calls on lawmakers to pass school tax cap this legislative sessio

Dear Editor: The Conservative Party is calling on the members of the legislature to pass legislation NOW, before they go home, that will give some measure of stability to New Yorkers when they plan their budgets. We are urging every New Yorker to contact their Senator at 518-455-2800 and their Assembly Member at 518-455-4100 to tell them "Don't go home without passing the 4 percent Tax Cap."

Real Property Tax Relief is needed NOW! It is reprehensible that New Yorkers will continue to pay burdensome real property taxes when Members of the Legislature have an opportunity to provide a reasonable solution by passing legislation that seeks to restrain school taxes to 4 percent a year growth. The four percent allowable under this proposal is more than generous. New Yorkers are moving out of state due to the taxes levied on everything possible and when taxes are not possible, fees are increased. Enough is enough. You have the opportunity to make a significant change NOW, before you leave, both houses have a moral obligation to provide some stability to New Yorkers. New Yorkers have the right to know that their school taxes will not increase more than 4 percent, they have the right to be able to plan their budgets with hard facts, they have the right to know that this portion of their budget will not increase more than 4 percent!

Pass the 4 percent tax cap NOW!
Michael R. Long, Chairman
Conservative Party,
New York State
