Donna Asner, Babylon Village resident at 43

Longtime Babylon Village resident and loving mother Donna J. Asner was not only dedicated to her own children, but other people's as well. She was committed to helping young people find their way in life as a juvenile social worker and probation officer. The 43-year old died from pancreatic cancer on June 14, 2008. "She just loved to help kids," said her mother, Lorraine Soper of Livingston Manor. "We got so many wonderful letters from kids that were on probation that she helped and are now doing great."
Born in Brooklyn, she was raised in North Babylon. For the last 17 years she lived on Lincoln Street in Babylon Village. For more than 20 years she was a social worker and probation officer for Suffolk County where she used her expertise to help young people turn their lives around. In addition to her mother, Mrs. Asner leaves behind her husband, Robert; her children, Casey and Corey; her father, Jack; her siblings, Joann Gorr, John and Ronnie, and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, sisters- and brothers-in-law, and other loved ones.
She reposed at the Lang-Tobia-DiPalma Funeral Home in Babylon Village on June 16 and 17, 2008. A Mass of Christian Burial was held on June 18, 2008 at SS Cyril and Methodius R.C. Church in Deer Park. Interment followed at St. Charles Cemetery in Farmingdale.
