Donate school supplies for homeless children
S.C. Leg. Steve Stern (D-Huntington) 16th LD, is partnering with Presiding Officer William Lindsay of the Suffolk County Legislature to bring school supplies to more than 300 homeless children throughout Suffolk County. You can participate by dropping off supplies to Legislator Stern's district office, located at 1842 E. Jericho Turnpike, Huntington, New York 11743. "I am asking our community to help collect school supplies because it is important for all children to start off the school year right. Please help this worthy cause by donating these much needed supplies," said Legislator Stern.
The deadline is Fri., Aug. 1. Suggested supplies include some of the following: four ounce Elmer's School Glue, glue sticks, Fiskars children's scissors, wide Crayola washable markers, folders with pockets, baby wipes, sandwich and gallon Ziploc bags, tissues, large t-shirts for smocks, sharpened number 2 pencils, Crayola crayons, Crayola markers, Crayola colored pencils, pencil boxes, wide-ruled black and white notebooks, three-by-five inch index cards, index card boxes, dry erase markers, manual pencil sharpener, two-in-one rulers, socks for dry erase wipes red folders, plastic shoebox, erasable pens, black Sharpie" markers, erasers, fine point color marikers, broad tip markers, black music folder and plastic colored folders.
