West Islip resident raises $2,500 for charity
Brad Finn, of West Islip, has been training with the Runners Edge running club. He completed the Ironman, Tempe, Arizona competition on April 13 in 14 hours and 49 minutes. With 2,000 athletes starting the race, Finn finished 1,240 out of the 1,690 athletes who did finish. The grueling competition of 2.4 mile swim, 112 mile bike ride and a marathon 26.2 mile run was contested in 97 degree heat and 25 to 30 mile per hour winds. The race had the third highest DNF (did not finish) in the 25-year Ironman history.
Finn raised over $2,500 and donated all to the American Foundation For Suicide Prevention in honor of his brother Dominick V. White on the fifth anniversary of White's passing.
