W. I. Westbrook students learn about Chinese culture
Shown is former world languages teacher Janet Loehr, who paid a special visit to the school to discuss the Chinese culture and language. According to teacher Michelle Quigley, third graders were immersed in the culture, which included giving themselves Chinese names. Additionally, the youngsters tried making fried rice and learning how to use chopsticks. The final event was a traditional Dragon Parade. "The children and staff had a wonderful time learning about the Asian culture," reports Quigley.
