Fuschillo secures funds for Lindenhurst School District State Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. (8th Senate District) announced recently that he secured $15,000 for the Lindenhurst School District to purchase new educational technology. The funding will enable the district to purchase interactive "SMART Board" equipment. "SMART Boards" are touch sensitive, computerized blackboards which allow teachers to incorporate the Internet, videos, and manipulate text as part of their lessons. Students can also actively participate in a lesson by using the SMART Boards to search the Internet, write text, or draw diagrams in front of the class. Since the technology is interactive, it enhances learning by keeping students more engaged and involved in the lessons. The funds will also be used to purchase physical education technology that will help track fitness testing results, monitor students health and development, expand the district's outdoor education instructional program, and promote healthy living. "This new educational technology will enhance the learning environment for Lindenhurst's and teachers. 'SMART Boards' allow teachers to give students a more interactive role in lessons, which stimulates their minds and makes learning more enjoyable. In addition, the District will be able to better track student fitness test results and encourage students to live a healthy lifestyle using the new physical education technology," said Senator Fuschillo, a member of the Senate's Education Committee. "On behalf of the students of the Lindenhurst School District, I want to thank Senator Fuschillo for securing this state funding. 'SMART Boards' are great educational tools which allow teachers to make learning more exciting and stimulating for students. The new physical education technology will greatly assist our health and physical education instructional programs. The Board of Education and I truly appreciate all that Senator Fuschillo does to support our efforts in providing the finest educational programs for our learners. Without his ongoing assistance, that would not be possible," said Neil Lederer, Superintendent of the Lindenhurst School District.
