OLOL students meet reading challenge

Our Lady of Lourdes School, West Islip, recently held its annual Read-A-Thon. All students participate in this challenge where they read as many books as they can over the course of four weeks. The Read-A-Thon is full of excitement as well as lots of fun and prizes. An information board located in the center hall records the class as a whole, as well as the student as an individual who has read the most. This year's theme was based on the book Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs. Shown, left to right, are John Tozzi, eighth grade; Katherine Moeller, seventh grade; Victoria Walker, pre-k; Samantha Vandenburg, third grade; Grant Macina, fourth grade; Angelina Caruso and Kailey Umpleby, first grade; Victoria LaMarr, sixth grade; Lauren LaMarr, second grade; Matthew Vandenberg, fifth grade and teacher's aide Nancy Kucher. Missing from the photo is John Cannistra, nursery and Natalia Khoury, Kindergarten.
