Johnson and Sweeney honor retiring CSD Sup't.

State Senator Owen H. Johnson (4th Senate District, Babylon), Chairman of the Finance Committee, and Assemblyman Bob Sweeney (11th Assembly District), recently presented a Joint Legislative Resolution to Dr. William Bolton, superintendent of the Copiague School District to mark the occasion of his retirement. Bolton announced that he will retire at the end of the school year after serving as supertinendent for 13 years.

During Dr. Bolton's tenure, district test scores have risen dramatically. Ten years ago, 20 percent of Copiague students received Regents diplomas while today the number is 80 percent. At the same time, reading, math and language arts scores also rose.

"Dr. Bolton's work in the Copiague School District has been phenomenal," said Senator Johnson. "His efforts have had -- and will

continue to have -- an enduring impact on the youth in the Copiague School District and the community at large."

Senator Johnson and Assemblyman Sweeney presented Dr. Bolton with the resolution at a recent Copiague Board of Education Legislative Breakfast held at the Walter G. O'Connell High School.
