Keep Islip Clean (KIC) is starting a campaign, joining Keep America Beautiful in the Great American Cleanup (GAC) as the group's work together for a cleaner, greener Islip Township. The KIC campaign trail will wind through all 18 hamlets of Islip as volunteers work once again to improve our quality of life as they clean up litter-strewn areas and beautify eyesores.

People in all 50 states come together every year during the Great American Cleanup, which is the nation's largest annual community improvement program. KIC, the local sponsor of the GAC, targets the weekends surrounding Earth Day on April 22, , although cleanups throughout April and May are welcome. All residents are encouraged to roll up their sleeves and support a clean community and healthy environment.

Nationally, three million volunteers are expected to join this campaign for a clean and beautiful America by participating in approximately 30,000 cleanup activities ranging over 17,000 communities nationwide. Locally, KIC contributed to this powerful event last year with over 1,600 volunteers removing an estimated 36,000 pounds of litter and debris from Islip Township.
