Good Samaritan announces golf classic chairman

The 11th annual Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center Golf Classic will be held on Mon., July 14, with a morning and afternoon shotgun at Southward Ho Country Club and a second mid-morning round at St. George's Golf and Country Club. The event will benefit the Good Samaritan Foundation and health care professional education will be highlighted.

At a kick-off reception, on Jan. 17, William G. Laverty of Wiedersum Associates Architects, PLLC, was named chairman of the Classic for 2008 and 2009. Laverty has been involved with the Golf Classic since its inception 11 years ago and participated in many other hospital functions over the past 30 plus years..

Laverty said "I enjoy this event for many reasons, it gives me an opportunity to socialize with so many friends and business associates and the event has a special purpose and meaning to all in attendance. I have had several personal experiences at Good Sam, which make you appreciate the outstanding services and care that the hospital offers to the community."

The Classic is well known for providing exceptional courses with beautiful facilities, exciting giveaways, competition prizes, raffle prizes and auction items. The golfers enjoy a full day of activity including a hearty brunch before golf and an awards dinner and presentation ceremony at Southward Ho after golf.
