Bay Shore successful inaugural season for girls varsity gymnastics

Coached by Bay Shore alumnus Jeff Reid and Middle School teacher Diana Duffy, the new girls varsity gymnastics team had a solid inaugural season with five wins and three losses in their League III meets, finishing third (behind East Islip and Hauppauge) for the 2007 fall season. The nine-member team, comprised of one sophomore, four freshman and four seventh-graders, trained every day after school at a local gymnastics club and competed at over eight high schools across Suffolk County.

Special recognition goes to Kerry Maerki, All- League Honorable Mention; Samantha Donohue, All-League; Brenna O'Connor, All-County; Mackenzie O'Connor, All- County and Scholar-Athlete Award and Olivia O'Connor, All-State and League III Individual Event Champion on Balance Beam and Uneven Bars.
