 Homeless man charged with robbing West Islip drug store

A homeless man was arrested and charged with holding up a CVS drug store in West Islip today, Wednesday, April 23. Police gave this account:

         At approximately 3 a.m., Patrick Maranzino, 62, entered the store at 460 Montauk Highway and brandished what appeared to be a gun. He threatened the clerk and grabbed money from the register and fled. No one was injured in the robbery.

Third Precinct Police Officer Mark Broderick obtained a description of Maranzino and his vehicle from witnesses. Police Officer John Keenan pulled over Maranzino a short time later, and, was assisted by Police Officer Jesse Zuckerman.
          Third Squad detectives arrested and charged Maranzino with Robbery 1st Degree. He was scheduled for arraignment at First District Court in Central Islip.
