South Bay Elementary in West Babylon recieves plaque from NYS

The South Bay Elementary School in the West Babylon School District received a plaque and flag in commemoration of their status as a No Child Left Behind Blue Ribbon School for 2007. The U.S. Department of Education bestowed Blue Ribbon status on the school because its students' New York State Assessment scores in English and math were in the top 10 percent of the State. South Bay principal JoAnn Scott and third grade teacher Carolyn Brett attended the Blue Ribbon Awards Ceremony in Washington, DC where they were presented with the flag and plaque.

Shown in the photo are Carolyn Brett, JoAnn Scott, Abhilash Jayachandran, Robert Gianferrara, Noela Franco, Daniel Fileccia, and Melanie Flores.
