Stern makes "Computer Cop" software available

S.C. Leg. Steve Stern (D-Huntington) 16th LD announced that copies of "ComputerCOP" Internet monitoring software are available at his District Office. "ComputerCOP" is made available by Suffolk County Sheriff Vincent DeMarco and is an easy to install, user friendly program that enables parents and caregivers to scan their children's computers for objectionable websites and materials and can also scan e-mails.

"ComputerCOP" is but one tool parents can use to help protect their children from cyber-predators and sex offenders," Leg. Stern said. "It is important for parents to remain vigilant and be aware of the dangers that cyber-predators pose." Speak to your children about Internet safety and establish controls for your children including keeping computers in a common area of the home, advising children not to reveal any identifying information and reminding children never to meet with anyone they have "met" online. "I am pleased to provide this software as one more measure to help protect our precious children," Leg. Stern said.

Copies of "ComputerCOP" are available at Leg. Stern's District Office, 1842 E. Jericho Tpke., Huntington, NY and reached at 631- 854-5100.
