Former WB resident, Terese Angelillo, at 41
Former West Babylon and North Massapequa resident Terese A. Angelillo spent her life caring for others, both as a nurse and a loving mother. She died unexpectedly February 11, 2008 in Sarasota, Florida at the age of 41.
"She balanced motherhood, marriage, friends, home and work effortlessly," said her sister Jeanine Burge. "She was a true 'superwoman." Born October 29, 1966, the youngest of five siblings, she grew up in Uniondale before moving to North Massapequa when she was a junior in high school. A 1984 Farmingdale High School graduate, she went on to work as a medical secretary and an electrocardiogram technician at L.I. Jewish Hospital. She went on to become a registered nurse, working for several home-care organizations. After relocating to Florida in 2000, she continued nursing in the Orthopedic Unit at Sarasota Memorial Hospital, where she was recognized as a 2007 Magnet Nurse of Excellence. In 2004, she realized a longstanding dream when she adopted a 3-year old girl from China, making her a mother of three. According to her family, she always wanted to "save a child from an orphanage." In 1995 she heroically saved her brother Salvatore Alfano, when she donated her kidney to him. "I was on dialysis for 21-years and her kidney was a perfect match," said her brother Salvatore. "She was a fun-loving sister and I will always remember the times we spent together on the beach." She leaves behind her husband, Joseph P.; her children: Francesca, Andrew and Nikki; her father, Charles Alfano; her siblings: Salvatore Alfano and his wife Teresa, Constance Alfano, Jeanine Burge and her husband Charles; her brother-in-law Bart Schiff; brothers-and sisters-in law Tracy and Andrew Bongianni and Christopher and Linda Angelillo, and her mother and father-in-law, Barbara and Joseph. She was predeceased by her mother, Francesca Alfano. Mrs. Angelillo reposed at the Massapequa Funeral Home in Massapequa Park on Feb.19 and 20, 2008. A Funeral Mass was said on Feb.21, 2008 at St. Killian's R.C. Church in Farmingdale. Interment followed at LI. National Cemetery at Pinelawn.
