Gates Avenue Elementary aide is honored
Lindenhurst's West Gates Avenue Elementary School lunchroom aide Jill Vaneck for administering the Heimlich maneuver to a fourth grade student choking on food and unable to breathe. Thanks to Vaneck's quick thinking, she was able to dislodge the food from the boy's throat, possibly saving his life. She handled the situation in a calm manner to provide the help the young boy needed.
