Art Museum to present exhibit

The Islip Art Museum is presenting Couples, an exhibition of work by artists who share their lives, and sometimes their studios, in order to examine the way love, commitment and cohabitation affect the creative process. The exhibition will be on view in the museum's main galleries at Brookwood Hall, 50 Irish Ln., East Islip, April 2 through June 1. A reception for artists will be held on Sun.,. April 13, 2 to 4 p.m. The reception is free and opoen to the public. Reservations are not required.

Karen Shaw will curate the Couples exhibition. Artists in the show include Miriam Bloom & Ron Morosan, Sally Brogden and Todd Johnson, Jeanette Cole and William Childress, Paula Elliott and James Burgess, Virginia Maksymowicz and Blaise Tobia, Leslie Wayne and Don Porcaro. Helen Soreff will be the featured artist in the Permanent Collection Gallery in an exhibition curated byJanet Goleas and Annette Merlis will present an exhibition in the museum store.

A tour of the exhibition followed by an informal tea will be held on Thurs., April 10 and Thurs, May 15, 3 p.m. There is a $7 reservation fee,k which must be paid in advance. To check availability, call 631-224-5402.

The Islip Art Museum Galleries are open Wednesday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 4 p.m.
