Banjo Society to hold free performances The dominant instrument is the tenor banjo played by a diversified group including the vice president of a major university, the ex-mayor of a local community, an internationally famous sculptor, a retired police commissioner, fireman, lawyer, and railroad engineer, an ordained priest, a local barber, a WW II vet who carried his banjo through the invasion of Normandy, and a sports hypnotist for a famous former heavyweight boxing champion. And many other celebrities. The band also frequently performs at various parks, senior citizen facilities, fraternal meetings, hospitals and many charity functions.
