Village sets public hearing on new building code Property owners in Babylon Village will have 30 days within which to repair their boarded up windows and buildings under a new law scheduled for a public hearing 7 p.m., March 25 at Village Hall. The proposal is designed to discourage having boarded up buildings and houses in the Village for extended lengths of time. Currently the Village has no ordinance to address this issue, said Babylon Village Mayor Ralph Scordino. The law does allow some leeway for residents and property owners who have extenuating circumstances, such as major fires or construction projects underway. "Under those situations, people can talk to the building inspector and/or go to the Village's Zoning Board of Appeals for extension of time," said Babylon Village Attorney Joel Sikowitz. "We do have a process in place to address specific cases." In other business, the Village Board announced that: •the golf course will be opening Fri., March 21. Originally slated to open earlier, the rainy weather delayed the opening said Village Trustee Kevin Muldowney, the board's liaison to the golf course.
•Village offices will close at noon Fri., March 21, in observance of Good Friday.
