Amityville: The Amityville boys basketball team earned the No. 6 seed in the Class A tournament and were eliminated by No. 3 Harborfields in a 61-50 quarterfinal loss. Warriors' head coach Jack Agostino lost the game to his brother Chris, the head coach at Harborfields. Steve Medard, who was a tight end on the Amityville football team, led the Warriors with 13 points. They finished the season 10-10 overall.

Babylon: James Pate had a game-high 13 points for the fourth seeded Babylon boys basketball team in their first round Class B playoff game against No. 1 Southampton, but it wasn't enough. The Panthers lost, 66-57. They lost three out of four games heading into the playoffs and were overmatched by Southampton's high-powered offense.

Copiague: It's never easy to play a one or two seed in the playoffs. No. 7 Copiague was eliminated from the Class AA tournament with a 71-46 quarterfinal loss to No. 2 Whitman. Marcell Lattimore had 14 points in the loss for the Eagles.

The same went for the girls basketball team when they lost to top-seeded Sachem East, 61-50, in the Class AA semifinals. The fourth seeded Eagles, who finished the season 16-5 overall, were led by Ieasia Walker who had 21 points.

Deer Park: Copiague's Lattimore put a dagger in Deer Park's playoff hopes when he scored on a put back with 18 seconds left in overtime to beat the Falcons, 75-74, in the fist round of the Class AA tournament. No. 10 Deer Park finished 12-8 and were led by Josh Malone, who scored 35 points.

Lindenhurst: After an 87-53 win in the first round of the Class AA playoffs against North Babylon, things looked to be going good for No. 6 Lindenhurst. Its fortune was reversed against No. 3 Bay Shore in the quarterfinals, however, when it lost, 68-56. Chris Johnson led the Bulldogs with 23 points.

North Babylon: In the loss to Lindenhurst mentioned above, Jamaal Avery led No. 11 North Babylon with 14 points.

The girls team, which had the No. 3 seed, beat Half Hollow Hills West, 69-42, in the first round of the Class AA quarterfinals, then beat No. 2 Commack, 63-58, in the semifinals. Bria Hartley scored 16 of her 28 points against Hills West in the second half for North Babylon. She led the team with 28 against Commack also.
