South Bay Audubon Society to host childrens program
On Sat., March 15, at 11 a.m. The Great South Bay Audubon Society, will host a program geared for third to fifth graders, Piping Plovers and their Beach Habitat. Carolyn Spilman of Audubon New York will acquaint participants with beach nesting species that are found in only a few other areas in the state, their identification, breeding behavior, and habitat requirements. It will also be explained how students can pitch in and help with local monitoring efforts and habitat protection. There will be a short visual presentation and discussion followed by indoor activity. This 60 to 90 minute program is free.
The program will be held at Brookside County Park, 59 Brook St., Sayville.
