Deer Park musicians selected to perform at regional festivals

Five musical standouts from Deer Park High School showcased their talents at the Long Island String Festival Association's (LISFA) annual concert at Ward Melville High School. Deer Park High School students Christine Caggiano, Stellar Gim, Bradley Bosenbeck, Emma Rosenthal, Catherine Xie were chosen by LISFA based on teacher recommendations and their New York State School Music Association (NYSSMA) scores from the previous spring.

Students had several months to prepare their high-level, demanding musical selections utilizing hours of inschool and private teacher lessons. There are approximately 120 students who participated in the grade 9/10 orchestra and grade 11/12 orchestras.

Deer Park's musicians continue to excel as 23 students, representing three of Deer Park's schools, have been selected as members of Suffolk County Music Educators' Association (SCMEA) All-County ensembles in chorus, orchestra and band and will perform in concerts to be held on March 8t for Division III and March 9 for Divisions I and II at East Islip High School. SCMEA is an organization that consists of professional music educators and advocates of music education throughout Suffolk County. The following students will participate in the All- County Music Festival.

Members of the Deer Park High School chorus are Nicholas Carioscia, Dayna Fisk, and Brian Giunta and in the orchestra are Christine Caggiano, Emma Rosenthal, Catherine Xie Members of the John F. Kennedy Intermediate School Band are Chandler Fahrenkrug and orchestra - Cynthia Chan. Members of the Robert Frost Middle School: Band are Courtney Brown, Michael Cox, Tyler Kearns, Arianna Leo, Samantha Panzenbeck, and Chris Perepezko and chorus are Faith Ahmed, Ashly Alkula, Toni ann Cox, Kristen Schutt, Linette Karina Macanas, and Jennifer Somma and orchestra are Valerie Gerig, Matthew LaMotte, and Noah Roff.
