A First Class Falcon, through and through
Lt. comes home, visits students at Deer Park's May More School

First Lieutenant John McLoughlin, a former Deer Park High School and May Moore Elementary School graduate, returned to his elementary alma mater to speak with first and second grade students and to thank them for their support over the last several months. May Moore students prepared and sent a plethora of packages, letters, and well wishes to Lieutenant McLoughlin while he trained in Camp Pendleton and was later stationed in Iraq during a mission appropriately named Operation Baby Falcon, a falcon being the Deer Park School mascot.

Showing their patriotic support, students donned red, white and blue clothing as they met with Lieutenant McLoughlin and asked questions pertaining to his life as a soldier and as a youngster growing up in Deer Park. Dressed in the military uniform he will be wearing during his second deployment to Iraq next month, Lieutenant McLoughlin said he was overwhelmed with emotions of appreciation and support and told the students he looks forward to receiving future care packages from them.

Lieutenant McLoughlin's next mission will have him heading a military transition team that will help Iraqis learn how to live independently.

Shown in the photo, Lieutenant McLoughlin and Deer Park May Moore students, left to right, Jasmine Palacios- Argueta, Katelyn Crisera, Katherine Cho, Alexander Kellarakos, John- Michael Reefer, and Joseph Leon salute side by side after performing a patriotic sing-a-long.
