Deer Park High School student Kristen McKenna has been announced as a Finalist in the 2008 National Merit Scholarship competition. Kristen was one of 16,000 semifinalists named in September of 2007 and after meeting some lofty requirements including impressive recommendations from Deer Park administrators and a reviewed record of the challenging course selection and her successful completion, has advanced to finalist standing.
McKenna has also been named for her superior performance on the Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude Test/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT), and is among the highest scoring entrants in New York State, and is now in the running to receive a 2008 scholarship from the National Merit Scholarship Corporation. Winners will be announced this spring.
