DPSD to hold Parent workshops The Parents' Resource Center of the Deer Park School District offers community members an informal forum in which to discuss ideas and ask questions about any relevant issues or concerns they may have. The Center conducts workshops, seminars and discussion groups on topics chosen based on parental interest and needs. Programs are held at the Abraham Lincoln School, 300 Park Ave., Room 11, Deer Park. The following groups will be conducted in the near future: •On Tues. March 4, 11 a.m. to noon, the video 1,2,3, Magic on child behavior modification by Dr. Tom Phelan will be viewed and discussed. •A workshop on understanding a school budget will be held Wed. March 5, 9:30 to 11 a.m. in the District office boardroom by Gene Levenstien, interim assistant superintendent for business and operations. •On March 12, 9:30 to 11 a.m. Dr. David Kessler, school psychologist and Monique Griffith, psychology intern will hold a parent workshop on social skills and development. •A parent support group will be held Fri., March 14, 9:30 to 11 a.m. •On Tues. March 18, 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Lisa Lee of DDI will offer parent training in Autism Spectrum Disorder and related topics. •The Fitness Club will meet weekly in the PRC (AL room 11) 10 to 11 a.m. on Tuesdays, March 4, 11 and 18 and Wed., March 26. Newcomers are welcome.
