Lindenhurst Daniel Street first-graders learn subtraction with math centers

First-graders in Erica Bohrer's class at Daniel Street Elementary School participated in a unique subtraction lesson using various math centers to comprehend the concepts. The classroom was set up with five different centers and the children went around to the different centers to learn creative ways to subtract.

The centers included: Tea Time - using sugar cubes and tongs, Haunted House - using ghost lima beans and haunted house work mats, Frog: Using frog counters and flash cards, Punch That Ticket- sing tickets and hole punchers and Match It - students match subtraction puzzle pieces to their corresponding answers.
