Police arrest Selden man for West Babylon bank robbery

Suffolk County Police arrested a Selden man Feb. 13 for the robbery of the Suffolk County National Bank branch , 955 Little East Neck Rd., West Babylon on Dec. 11, 2007.

Major Case Investigations Unit detectives arrested Victor J. Chetti, 41, of 568 Hawkins Road, Selden following an extensive investigation. The police had received information about his whereabouts. He was charged with robbery 3rd degree. Chetti was held overnight at the 7th Precinct in Shirley and was arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip.

Police said that Chetti approached a teller with a note stating that he had a gun.He then verbally demanded cash from the teller and threatened to display the gun. The teller complied and gave him cash and a dye pack from the drawer. He fled the bank and was seen getting into a 1990s four-door gold or champagne colored Saturn when the dye pack activated.
