State Senator Owen H. Johnson (4th Senate District, Babylon), Chairman of the Finance Committee, recently visited Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip where he had the opportunity to view the state-of-the-art equipment that the hospital purchased with the $175,000 state grant he secured for them last year.

"I am pleased that I was able to secure funds for the hospital to purchase equipment that will help diagnose illness and save lives," said Senator Owen H. Johnson. "So many people here in our community rely on Good Samaritan Hospital when they or their loved ones are sick or injured. That's why it's so vital that the hospital has the very best equipment available."

Senator Johnson explained that the equipment purchased with the grant funds included a state-ofthe art portable ultrasound machine, biphasic defibrillators, an Automatic External Defibrillator (AED) and multiple programmable multifunction monitors. The equipment includes both diagnostic and lifesaving devices that will improve the diagnostic, trauma and cardiac services in the Emergency Department.

The Good Samatatin Hospital's emergency room has been designated by the State as an Area Trauma Center. According to the hospital, their Emergency Room is the busiest on Long Island having served nearly 90,000 patients last year.
