Bower students mix it up in Lindenhurst

On Wednesday, Nov. 14, Lindenhurst's E.W. Bower Elementary students participated in a nationwide program called Mix it Up Day. The goal is for students to make new friends and to become comfortable starting conversations with children they might not know.

The program took place in the cafeteria during lunch. The students were required to "mix it up" and sit with children not in their class. Principal Donna Smawley and Social Worker Melissa Levy helped encourage conversations and led a fun and interactive activity. The lesson focused on making friends and finding things in common with others.
