Eugene Simpson, of West Babylon, NYC police detective

Retired New York City Detective Eugene E. Simpson from West Babylon died Jan. 15, 2008 surrounded by his family. He was 81 years old.

A World War II Navy veteran on the U.S.S. Essex, he was a devoted police officer at the 110th in Elmhurst, Queens for more than 40 years.

Mr. Simpson leaves behind his children: Sheila Zuckerwise and her husband Larry, Brian and his wife Leslie, Patricia and her spouse Farley Nachemin and Nancy and her spouse Robert Stutts; his grandchildren: Todd, Ryan and Patrick Zuckerwise and Connor, Meghan and Ian Nachemin. He was predeceased by his wife of 49 years, Helen C.

He reposed at the Claude R. Boyd-Spencer Funeral Home in Babylon. A Funeral Mass was held Jan. 18, 2008 at Our Lady of Grace R.C. Church R.C. Church. Interment followed in the North Babylon Cemetery.
