Leg. Stern informs residents of recycling options

Suffolk County Leg. Steve Stern (D-Huntington) 16th LD is committed to protecting our environment and supports an important county initiative to encourage and facilitate the recycling of "E-Waste," such as computers, televisions, electronic games and other potentially toxic products. Suffolk County has issued Requests for Proposals to create a program for "E-Waste and to select locations for drop-off of these items. Until these locations are opened, residents can bring "E-Waste" to dedicated facilities in both Huntington and Babylon.

Residents of Huntington can bring "E-Waste" to the recycling center located at 641 New York Ave., Huntington. The site is open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. Residents of the Town of Babylon can bring "E-Waste" to the recycling center located at 57 Field St., West Babylon, Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to noon. and from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. The center will be open on Saturday, May 10 and Saturday, Oct. 11 from 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

"I encourage residents to bring "E-Waste" to these locations to ensure that potentially hazardous materials are properly disposed of and that both the health and safety of residents and the environment are protected. I look forward to opening additional County locations to broaden the number of recycling sites and to make it more convenient for residents to recycle these items."
