Councilman Flotteron announces renovations at Bay Shore Marina Councilman Steven J. Flotteron announced that the renovations at Bay Shore Marina have continued. The Town of Islip Park's Department Division of Marinas and Docks have begun reconstruction of one of the oldest piers at the Bay Shore Marina. The "C" dock has deteriorated over the years and was in danger of eventual collapse. The new construction will remove this old solid-fill pier and replace it with a new floating dock design with updated water and electrical service. This will allow the use of this portion of the marina for the 44 boat berths that occupy this dock in a manner that will also be compatible with the ecology of the Great South Bay. The floating dock design will allow increased circulation of the tidal flow throughout the marina and increase the amount of bay bottom environment that is available to marine organisms. Councilman Flotteron stated "This is just another way of showing the continued commitment of the Town of Islip to invest in the future of the Bay Shore Marina and the future of Bay Shore." The Town hopes to add other improvements to the Marina as funding becomes available; to fully realize the vision that the community has for this facility.
