An Ode to a flooded street

In Babylon Town there is a lake that forms
whenever it rains,
Oakrest Lake is its name it has achieved real
fame.
For 40 years this lake has appeared a truly
spectacular sight,
But to residents of Oakrest Lane it sometimes
is a fright.
To access Deer Park Avenue they creep through
the billows grey,
With water up to their hubcaps and cross
traffic in the way.
And when the cold winds blow and winter settles
in,
They slip and slide on the ice and sometimes
even spin.
If after a storm, and you get bored, come down
to our soggy lane,
To see the fabulous Oakrest Lake which simply
will not drain.
Bring the kids with their rubber ducks and have
your camera handy,
To see the cars make giant splashes, a sight
that's really dandy.
So here's to Babylon as we enter a new year,
Won't you please fix this problem which has
plagued us through the years?
We pay our taxes, beautify our lawns and keep
our properties neat,
But this darn lake at the end of the street, has
got us all real beat.
