Islip Art Museum Dream of Genomes exhibition

The Islip Art Museum, Brookwood Hall, 50 Irish Ln., East Islip will present an exhibition entitled I Dream of Genomes on view from Wed., Feb. 6 through Sat., March 22. A reception will be held Sun., Feb. 10, 2 to 4 p.m. The reception is free and open to the public; reservations are not required.

I Dream of Genomes examines the mercurial nature of being human in this century; of the authentic self; of personality, ethnicity and uniqueness or the absence of such; of things that are real, things that have ceased to be real and the grey areas in between.

The guest curator, Janet Goleas, has invited the following artists to participate: Kate Clark, Julia Condon, Andrea Cote, David Gamble, Michelle Hinebrook, Lisa Kellner, Kathleen Kucka, Catamount Mayhugh, Steven Miller, Meridith Pingree, Jake Rowland, Hope Sandrow and Birgitta Weimer.

Jennifer Cross will be the feature artist in the Permanent collection Gallery. The watercolors of Marcia White will be featured in the Museum Story Gallery.

In addition to the reception, the following related events have been scheduled: A tour of the exhibition followed by an informal tea will be held Thurs., Feb. 14 and Thurs., March 13, 3 p.m. There is a $7 reservation fee, which must be paid in advance. To check availability, call 631-224-5402
