Live Poets Society announces annual poetry contest

All peer workshops of the Live Poets Society are held monthly at the Islip Library on Sundays. Bring 10 copies of an original poem for review and discussion on the following dates, Feb. 10, March 9 and April 13.

The Barnes and Noble, Bay Shore Read-a-Round Series will returns on Sundays, 2 p.m.: Feb. 17, March 30 and April 27.

The Live Poets Society is announcing its 11th annual Poetry Contest in honor of April as National Poetry Month. The guidelines include: •Submit one to six poems of any subject or style •Reader's fee of $10 •Poem(s) should be typed with a 40 line maximum •The name, address, phone number and title of poem should be on a separate sheet •The deadline date is April 17 •Prizes and awards will be presented at the Islip Library on April 24, 7:30 p.m. in the community room.
