Ascension Lutheran Church to host pre-super bowl dinner The Youth Mission Team at Ascension Lutheran Church, 33 Bay Shore Rd., Deer Park, is co-hosting a congregation pre-Super Bowl dinner, Sun., Feb. 3, 4 p.m., along with the Ascension Service Team, Suffolk County Chapter of Thrivent Financial for Lutherans. The community is invited to attend. The suggested donation is $5. Proceeds will go to assist the Mission Team of teens and advisors pay for expenses involved in their upcoming trip to New Orleans, where they will help rebuild housing for victims of Hurricane Katrina. This service will be undertaken during February break with a team from Trinity Lutheran Church, Rocky Point.
Ascension's Youth volunteers are Lauren Bartels, Andrew Rainis, Allison Tresselt, Rob Velte and Christopher Wankel, all of Deer Park; Jennifer and Erik Krauss, North Babylon and Katherina Neidig, West Islip. The youth advisor is Theresa Auletta of North Babylon and adult advisors are Terry and John Auletta of North Babylon and David and Allison Johnson of Ronkonkoma.
