Babylon Parks Department announces lottery for campgrounds

A lottery to determine who will use Cedar Marina Campground during the holiday weekends this summer will be held Mon., April 7, 6 p.m. at the Town Hall Annex, 281 Phelps Ln., North Babylon.

There will be one lottery to determine the use of the campground for Memorial Day, Fourth of July, Beach Blast and Labor Day. As each camping permit is drawn, the camper will have the opportunity to pick the weekend and site of his choice, until all sites on all four weekends have been chosen. If there are any campsites left at the end of the lottery, anyone interested can put his or her permit back in the lottery to try for another weekend.

Any camper wishing to enter the lottery must be at the meeting with his or her camping permit and prepared to pay the required camping fee for the days each weekend. The fee will be non-refundable. Campsites will be available the Friday before the weekend at 11 a.m. to campers who were chosen in the lottery.

Should any campsites remain open after the lottery, they will be available on a first-come, firstserved basis the Friday before the holiday weekend. Remember, no campers will be permitted to line up either on Ocean Parkway or in the marina.

Note: Campers may purchase a camping permit in the Office of the Town Clerk at Town Hall starting Tues., Feb. 19.
