Scholars in the NEWS •Amanda Cooper, the daughter of Joseph and Pamela Cooper of West Islip, was named to the dean's list for the first semester of the 2007-2008 school year at Hope College, Holland, Michigan. •Matthew Maes, of Lindenhurst, was named to the dean's list at the State University of New York College at Plattsburgh for the fall 2007 semester. •Laura Esposito, of West Babylon, recently received a Lawrence J. and Jennifer Brink Schorr Scholarship at Binghamton University. The scholarship is awarded to a full-time student majoring in English who has demonstrated interest in computer science or management. It is based on academic merit and recipients must have a GPA of 3.5 or above. •Named to the dean's list for the fall 2007 semester at Coastal Carolina University, Conway, South Carolina are the following local residents: Colette L.
