Babylon Business Women annual Christmas tree lighting ceremony

Shown in the photo is Paul Steinberg at the keyboard.
The annual Christmas Tree Lighting in Argyle Park took place in spite of a wintry windy afternoon. Sponsored by the Babylon Business Women, President Elizabeth Karoly led the ceremonies. Karoly introduced Rev. Conrad Shauch, Pastor of St. Paul's Reformed Church, the fire chief, Paul Steinberg at the keyboard and Gene Turner who led the caroling. Mayor Scordino pulled the switch and sparked the festivities. Santa arrived in a big red truck to an excited crowd of both children and grown-ups. This is a 73-yearold tradition made possible by the Village staff and many others.

Libby Orr and the "Busy Women" participated in providing dozens of finger sandwiches for the Conklin's open house. Many of the ladies also assisted in welcoming visitors to the fully decorated 1803 historical home. Participants included Elizabeth Karoly, Fran Pasch, Ellie Korade, Belle Baxter, Mary Ellen Sullivan, Karen Deesing and Anita North, all docents or busy passing the treats.

This year's holiday party was held at Southward Ho. The music, led by Fran Pasch and Lois Baisley, had the group all singing along. A ladies basket was won by Lois Baisley . Two tables full of toys were collected and donated to local charities.
