2007 Fall athletic outstanding accomplishments

J. Wayne Shierant, Director of Athletics, Physical Education, Health and Recreation for the West Islip School District announces the following students, teams and coaches have received post season recognition for their participation in the Fall sports programs.

The following were acknowledged for girls varsity gymnastics: All League - Lauren Spagnoletta, Blair Engeldrum, Melanie Schaeffner, Kelsey Herron, Kailey Lyons, Jennifer Trezza, Jessica Lutrario and Kristen Stadylander; for All County - Caitlin Keane, Courtney VonBraunsberg, and Victoria Scuteri and for Team Scholar Athlete Team Award and League II. Champions.

Recognized for girls varsity soccer are: All Conference: Rebecca Richman, and Amanda Fontana; All County - Erin Walter; All-County Academic - Kathryn Sullivan; All-League Academic - Erin Walter and Team Scholar /Athlete Team Award.

Acknowledged for boys varsity soccer are: All League -Dan Vignola and Jerry Nobile; All Conference - Ryan Sepe, Pat Cantwell, Marc Holland and Joey Howell; All County - Pat Cantwell, and Ryan Sepe; All Region - Pat Cantwell; Coaching Honors: League III Coach of the Year - Ed Pieron and Team - League III Champions.

Those recognized for girls varsity cross country are: All League - Ali Foote, Marlaena, LeMaitre, Allison Ryan, Megan Williams and Krystyna Oskinis; All County: -Ali Foote and Team - Scholar /Athlete Team Award

Recognized for boys cross country are: All League -Joseph Clark and Pat Fannon; All Division - Joseph Clark and Pat Fannon, All-County Academic - Joseph Clark and Team: Scholar Athlete Team Award.

Acknowledged for boys varsity volleyball are: All Division - Greg Morgano and Kevin Reinecher; All-Division Honorable Mention - Chris Loos and Anthony Botsch; All County -Matt McKee and Paul Ejups and All- County Academic: Mike Dalvano, and Cody Pace.

Recognized for girls varsity volleyball are: All League -Mary Caulson, Lauren Henry and Shirley Chen; Rookie of the Year - Mary Caulson; All League Honorable Mention - Alicia Maione and Laura Wagner; All Conference - Kate Keenan; All County - Lara Ejups - League III Player of the Year; All County/All Tournament Team - Lara Ejups and Kate Keenan; Coaching Honors - League III Coach of the Year - Jim Klimkoski and Team - Scholar /Athlete Team Award.

Recognized for girls varsity tennis: All League - Lauren Montanino, MacKenzie Kurek Kelsey Kjeldsen, and Daniela Cassataro; All County - Kristin Alotta - Suffolk County Champion;

All State - Kristin Alotta - 6 time Division II Single Champion and Team: Scholar/Athlete Team Award. Acknowleged for girls varsity swimming are: All League -Sallie Beth Finnegan, Casey McGowan, Lauren Goodwin, Kristen Pfaffe, Sarah Culmo, Julia English, Meredith English and Kaitlyn Sullivan; School Records - 200 Meter Medley Relay - Sallie Beth Finnegan, Casey McGowan, Lauren Goodwin and Sarah Culmo; 200 Meter Freestyle Relay - Casey McGowan, Kristen Pfaffe, Julia English, and Sarah Culmo; 100 Meter Breaststroke - Casey McGowan and Team: Scholar/Athlete Team Award.

Those recognized for varsity football are: All Division - Nick Cestaro, Billy Carroll, Jarett Gandolfo and John Rushton; All Division 2nd Team: Patrick Bell, Corey Clifford and Matt Chartrand; All County are Alex Fernan, Nick Tropeano, Kyle Gelling and Chris Costea.

National Football Foundation Scholar Athlete Award Winner - Stephen Ryan; Wings Memorial Award Winner - Billy Carroll ; Coaching Honors: Division II Coach of the Year - Tim Horan and Team: Scholar/ Athlete Team Award, Big Four Champions and County Finalists.

Recognized for varsity field hockey are: All Division: Jenna Evarts, Devan Crimi, and Mackenzie Dean; All Conference - Jillian Price and Kerry Qualliotine; All County: Rebecca Monteith and Taylor Troyano; All-Tournament Team: - Krissi Riker, Mackenzie Dean and Cassie Campasano and Team: Scholar/Athlete Team Award, Division II Champions

Recognized for boys varsity gold are: All League- Joe Arnold, John Scarpinito, Pat Brady, Sean Keller andRyan Bos; Other Honors - Sean Keller - Individual Winner Molloy Cup and Other Team Honors: League Champions, 1st Place in Molloy Invitational.
