Town of Babylon announces extended hours of operation Babylon Town Supervisor Steve Bellone announced that the Town Assessor's office will extend its hours of operation beginning Mon., Jan. 29. Office hours will be from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Mon. through Fri. The last day of extended hours will be Mon., March 3, which is the deadline for all applications. "We are committed to do everything we can to make the application process easier for Town of Babylon property owners," stated Supervisor Bellone. Each year, hundreds of property owners come through the doors of Town Hall so that they can physically turn in their applications for Real Property tax exemptions. "We are extending office hours to assist Town of Babylon residents with the application process. The increased hours give everyone a bit more flexibility," stated Town Assessor Michael Bernard. "Many residents are now able to get their application in to my office before going to work." Michael Bernard published a booklet entitled Do You Qualify for a Real Property Tax Exemption in the Town of Babylon. The booklet outlines exemptions and their respective eligibility criteria that are available for Town of Babylon Real Property owners. To get a copy of the publication or for further information, you can contact the Assessor's Office at 631-957- 3014 or assessor@townofbabylon.com. or log on to the Town website www.townofbabylon.com. The booklet is located under the forms section of the website.
All approved applications will see their exemption on their December 2008 tax bill.
