Culinary Arts students experience real life skills at Junior ROTC bash

Lindenhurst High School culinary arts and baking classes prepared the food for the Junior ROTC Marine Birthday Bash on November 17. Students from various culinary classes prepared food and volunteered their time to serve the guests at the traditional Junior ROTC ball.

The students were able to practice their culinary skills while experiencing real life application of these skills. Strict safety and sanitation rules were emphasized and demonstrated. Students made yeast rolls from scratch, prepared fresh boneless breast of chicken, quartered and steamed new potatoes, chopped parsley, rolled silverware, baked sheet cakes, cooked pasta, and prepared raw vegetables.

Students who participated are Jennifer Regalado, Jennifer Michno, Danielle Pehowich, Kayla Ganesh, Kelly Baum, Tracey Francaville, Matthew Fiel, Alex Spero, Cassie Fontana, Kathryn Ferretti and Jessica Cossin.

Shown in the photo, students are hard at work at the Junior ROTC birthday bash.
